EDUCATIng

Teaching Philosophy:

I believe that education should involve educators having passion for the subject matter, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have a passion for dance my entire life. It’s my priority to make sure the spaces I create are safe and inclusive to all. I yearn to guide and train young artists to unlock their hidden potential of artistry and movement capacity. I train beginner and advanced movers to push beyond the unexpected of their craft and to hone in on authenticity and generation of movement phrase-work. I utilize anatomical alignment and the acknowledgement of my dance ancestors when facilitating my classes, encouraging artists to find the joy in dance and fully “drop-in” to the space. My areas of specialty lie largely in the fusion of contemporary forms, improvisation, and informed from my dancestral lineage of Jazz and Post-Modern training.
